YOUNGSTOWN -- Rondinelli Cleaners is still operating on McGuffey Road, the store manager says, and the two furs a Canfield woman left at the company's Cornersburg dry-cleaning shop before it closed last year are safely in storage there.
Lillian Harris, manager at the store at 1642 McGuffey Road, said the business closed its shops on Boardman-Canfield Road and Canfield Road in 2002, but its main office on Youngstown's East Side has continued to operate.
The store's phone number isn't listed in the telephone directory, and the Better Business Bureau of the Mahoning Valley had been reporting the business was closed.
Harris said Rondinelli Cleaners contacted all its customers by telephone last year to advise them that the other stores were closing and to ask them to pick up their clothes. Items not picked up were sent to the McGuffey Road store, including about eight wedding dresses, several leather jackets and some furs.
A Canfield woman filed a theft report with Youngstown police recently after she went to the site of the former Cornersburg store to pick up a $13,000 red fox fur coat and a $5,000 mink jacket and found the shop closed.
Harris said she wants to set the record straight about the status of the business, and she'll be happy to return the furs to their rightful owner as long as she pays the $188 storage fee. She said the coats were first dropped off at the cleaners' former Cornersburg location in May 2001.
