BELOIT -- Authorities are continuing to probe the shooting death of a Knox Township man.
Brett Rudolph, 43, of 3368 Westville Lake Road was pronounced dead early Tuesday at Alliance City Hospital after he was shot at his residence.
Rudolph's girlfriend told the Columbiana County Sheriff's Department that Rudolph was handling two handguns, a .22 caliber and a .25 caliber, when one of them went off. A bullet struck Rudolph in the neck.
Rudolph had been drinking, a sheriff's spokesman said this morning.
Future flooding money
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Lawrence County commissioners are considering releasing money to help prevent future flooding in Pulaski Township.
Commissioner Brian Burick said he wants to look into the cost of dredging Deer Creek, which runs along Pa. Route 208. Recent rains caused the creek to overflow into the township ball fields, tennis courts and a nearby golf course, Deer Run. All three areas sustained damage on July 27 during record rains. County officials declared a disaster emergency on that date because of the damage.
Burick said financing to help pay for the dredging would come from the county liquid fuels fund, money the county receives from the state.
Motorist robbed on I-80
CLINTONVILLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said a Sardinia, Ohio, motorist was robbed at gunpoint as he was changing a tire along Interstate 80 in Venango County.
Police said Arlis J. Faulkner was stopped at the Exit 35 ramp and changing a tire when a person with a gun approached him and robbed him of $1,800 shortly after 4 a.m. Monday.

The fire was contained to the bedroom where it originated, a fire official said.
Loss to the single-story, ranch-style home is estimated at $6,000. No injuries were reported.
Truck vandalized
SALEM -- A man reported that his truck was vandalized while it was parked outside his residence on the 200 block of W. Ninth Street.
The vehicle's front windshield was shattered, the driver's side mirror was cracked and a large dent was put in the driver's door, police said.
The crime occurred between 1 and 2:12 a.m. today.

Campbell man indicted
YOUNGSTOWN -- A federal grand jury indicted James Deucaster, 23, of Wilson Avenue, Campbell, on one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and one count of being a violent felon in possession of body armor.
The indictment was unsealed Tuesday, said Gregory A. White, U.S. attorney for Ohio's northern district.
His arrest was part of the "Project Safe Neighborhoods" program being coordinated among federal, state and local authorities. The program targets armed felons for federal prosecution.
Pipe maintenance
AUSTINTOWN -- Township officials say workers have removed paving blocks, rocks and sandstone that were blocking a drainage pipe in the Woodside Lake dam.
Residents in the area had expressed concern that a blockage in the pipe had contributed to recent flooding.
Township Administrator Michael Dockry said the debris was removed Tuesday.
