CLAIMS MANAGEMENT
DUBLIN, Ohio -- The Frank Gates Companies' Board of Directors recently promoted two former Youngstown-area residents at its corporate headquarters in Dublin.
Bob Zamary was named Chief Operating Officer. He has 16 years of experience in the workers' compensation field and previously served as senior vice president of national claims administration for Frank Gates. A Struthers native, he has a bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School. He lives in New Albany, Ohio.
Melissa Korterud was promoted to assistant vice president of editorial services. She has 12 years' experience in writing and marketing communications and joined the company five years ago as editor. Korterud has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University and is a graduate of Boardman High School.
RETAIL
BROOKFIELD -- Terry Grove of Homeworth, Ohio, has been hired as a manager trainee at the 84 Lumber Store in Brookfield.
A graduate of West Branch High School, he attended Geneva College.
HEALTH CARE
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Two new physicians, Dr. James Minshull and Dr. Randall Hofius, have joined the medical staff of UPMC Horizon.
Dr. Minshull, M.D., a Mercer High School graduate, has a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Edison, New Jersey.
He completed his internship and residency with the former St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh. Board-certified in internal medicine, he practiced emergency-room medicine and instructed at St. Francis Central Hospital in Pittsburgh until it closed in 2000.
He has been an internal medicine adviser to Wexford Health, providing online diagnostic support for the physician network. He has medical offices on South Main Street in Sandy Lake and on West Butler Street in Mercer.
Dr. Hofius, D.O, a general surgeon, has owned Hofius Surgical in New Castle since Jan. 2001 and has been practicing general surgery since 1996.
He attended Gannon University in Erie, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. He completed an internship at the former Warren General Hospital in Warren and a general surgical residency at Community General Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa.
A Hermitage native, he is board-certified in general surgery and has an office on North Jefferson Street in New Castle. He is also an adjunct professor of surgery at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie.
BANKING
WARREN -- Second National Bank has promoted Suzanne M. Myers to assistant vice president, commercial loan portfolio manager, and Darlene M. Davies to administrative officer in the commercial lending department.
Myers joined the bank in 2000 as a credit analyst in the credit department, having come from AVI Foodsystems in Warren.
Davies joined the company in 1980 as a teller supervisor and held a succession of other positions.
STRUTHERS -- Sky Bank has promoted Dexter Hollen of Struthers to vice president.
He is financial center manager at the bank's Struthers-Poland office. Dexter attended Youngstown State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
He is a councilman-at-large for the city of Struthers.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
NEW CASTLE -- Donna Goyak has been appointed interim executive director of the Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County. Goyak has worked with several Pennsylvania and Washington state government agencies and nonprofit organizations.
Most recently, she served as vice president and interim executive director for First Night Pittsburgh, Inc.
