6 area students win honors in career development event

WARREN -- Six local students won honors at the Jobs for Ohio's Graduates District 13 Career Development Conference on March 25 at Kent State University Trumbull Campus. They are:
UJessica Medley, Girard High School senior, first place in public speaking with a speech based on the conference theme, "Ohio -- 200 Years Along, Building Our Future Strong."
UMelissa Lindsey, Chaney High School and Choffin Career and Technical Center student, first place in decision-making. Students are presented with a situation, have five minutes to make a decision, then defend it to judges.
UCory Thornton, Rayen High School and CCTC student, first place in employment interview event.
USharina Freeman, Warren Harding High School senior, won the Application Technique event by demonstrating accuracy and completeness on an employment application.
UGirard High School team of Kari Esposito and Cassie Frickner, first in Visual Display.
Area winners advance to the state conference during May in Columbus.
