HERMITAGE Police arrest Youngstowner after stakeout at Starlite Inn

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Police said a Youngstown man wanted on assault and parole violations in Ohio was arrested after a stakeout at the Starlite Inn on Pennsylvania Route 18.
Police said they were notified by Ohio authorities that Arian S. O'Connor, 25, was expected to be at the motel Friday afternoon, and they staked out the place.
O'Connor did arrive but fled in a waiting car before police could grab him.
The car went south on Route 18, and police said O'Connor threw a loaded 9 mm pistol out of a window before the vehicle was stopped at the intersection with Pennsylvania Route 60, about a half-mile from the motel.
The gun had been stolen in Youngstown, police said.
O'Connor surrendered without a fight and was charged with receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, illegal possession of a firearm and two counts of being a fugitive from justice.
Ohio authorities want him on a charge of felonious assault with a gun and on a parole violation on a similar earlier offense.
He remained in Mercer County Jail today on $10,000 bond.
