Sunday, September 15, 2002

YOUNGSTOWN -- A clerk pulled a gun on a would-be robber, prompting the criminal to flee.
According to police, a man in his mid- to late 20s entered the Shehy Market on Shehy Street about 2 p.m. Saturday. He demanded money and pointed what appeared to be a gun through his jacket at the clerk.
Police said the clerk pretended to reach for money but instead hit an alarm and grabbed a gun from behind the counter.
Seeing the gun, the intruder ran outside, jumped into a dark blue car and escaped.
