Ursuline routed Wilmington 45-0 to improve to 2-1.
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Junior Delbert Ferguson scored on runs of 5, 74 and 55 yards Friday as the Ursuline High football team defeated Wilmington, 45-0.
Irish kicker Nick Royer made six point-after kicks and a 29-yard field goal as Ursuline (2-1) won its first game at Wilmington Area's field. The teams first met at YSU's Stambaugh Stadium in 1999.
Ursuline piled up 440 yards of offense, while Wilmington managed 215. Ferguson's rushing total alone was 215 on 11 carries.
The Irish had 26 rushes for 292 yards, while quarterback Daryll Clark completed seven of nine passes for 148 yards. Walt Lacey was the top receiver with three catches for 70 yards.
Isaiah Poindexter snagged two for 39 yards and Ferguson caught a pair for 33. One of Poindexter's catches was a 26-yarder for a touchdown.
Ursuline's other TDs were a 16-yard run by Terrell Washington and a 14-yard run by Alex Allen.
Twice, Wilmington (0-2) reached Ursuline's 20 in the first half. A fumble stopped one drive at the 16, while senior linebacker Colin Brubaker and sophomore linebacker Alex Allen sacked Greyhounds quarterback Tim Hughes to halt the other threat.
Wilmington, which lost to Monaca in its opener, had 33 rushes for 113 yards. Passing yardage was 102 yards on 7 of 10 completions.
Hughes had six rushes for 39 yards.
West Branch 42, Marlington 7
ALLIANCE -- Five Warriors scored touchdowns for West Branch (2-1).
After Marlington's Dan Dezerado caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Ty Scott in the first quarter, the Warriors took command.
Quarterback Nate Greenawalt, who rushed for a 1-yard touchdown, completed 6-of-11 passes for 94 yards. One was a 19-yard touchdown toss to Josh Venables.
Chase Adams scored touchdowns on runs of 9 and 2 yards.
Josh Davis, who led the Warriors with 118 yards on 15 carries, scored from 3 yards out. Robert Stull booted six extra-points and scored on a 9-yard run.
Field 31, Southeast 28
RAVENNA -- Field scored the final 10 points of the game, all in the fourth quarter, to wipe out a 28-21 Pirates' advantage.
Field had more total yards (367-257) although each team amassed 12 first downs.
