Rape trial postponed
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mahoning County Common Pleas Court trial of Kevin Brown has been postponed. Brown, 45, of Howard Street, faces four counts of rape. Authorities say he raped a 6-year-old girl in June 2001.
Brown's lawyer, Paul Conn, had asked that the charges be dismissed, arguing that prosecutors took too long to bring the matter to trial. Judge James C. Evans denied the request and Conn is now appealing to the 7th District Court of Appeals, which is one reason for the postponement. The trial was to have started Wednesday.
Conn also is involved in a murder trial in the courtroom of Judge Robert Lisotto.
