OTTAWA -- Mario Lemieux scored a goal and had two assists to lead Pittsburgh. Dick Tarnstrom, Jan Hrdina and Alexei Kovalev also scored for the Penguins. Lemieux increased his league-leading points total to 23 in 10 games, setting up goals by Tarnstrom and Kovalev before scoring his sixth of the season on a power play 2:56 into the third. Lemieux and Kovalev extended their points streaks to nine games. Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson scored his fifth of the season as Ottawa's winless streak stretched to four games. Penguins goalie Johan Hedberg made 21 saves.
Lightning 3, Rangers 0
TAMPA, Fla. -- Nikolai Khabibulin made 24 saves for his 29th career shutout. It was Khabibulin's first shutout in 34 games, dating to a 1-0 victory over the Rangers last Jan. 28. Tim Taylor had a first-period goal for Tampa Bay. Fredrik Modin and Vincent Lecavalier scored late third-period goals.
Hurricanes 4, Islanders 2
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Sami Kapanen, Jeff O'Neill and Niclas Wallin scored during an 11 1/2-minute stretch in the second period as Carolina rallied from a 2-0 first-period deficit. O'Neill extended his NHL-best point streak to 10 straight games with his fourth goal while Kapanen's goal was his 16th against the Islanders -- the most against any team in his career.
Bruins 7, Capitals 2
WASHINGTON -- Brian Rolston had a goal and two assists as Boston extended its unbeaten streak to eight games. P.J. Axelsson, Rob Zamuner, Josef Stumpel, Bryan Berard, Joe Thornton and Glen Murray also tallied for the Bruins. Kip Miller and Steve Konowalchuk scored for Washington, which has dropped two straight. Craig Billington, starting in place of Washington's injured regular Olaf Kolzig, lasted only 21:58. He allowed four goals on only 12 shots.
Blues 7, Predators 0
ST. LOUIS -- Reed Low, Al MacInnis and Keith Tkachuk scored on successive shots during a four-goal second period as St. Louis won its sixth straight. Fred Brathwaite made 19 saves for his 14th career shutout in his second straight start since recovering from a groin injury.
Panthers 3, Stars 2, OT
DALLAS -- Valeri Bure scored with 3:21 into overtime, and backup Jani Hurme made 42 saves as Florida handed Dallas its first home loss this season. Brenden Morrow's shorthanded goal with 8:52 remaining in regulation lifted the Stars into a 2-2 tie. Kristian Huselius had a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Ivan Novoseltsev had the other goal for Florida.
