Brothers are shot
NILES -- Two brothers were taken to area hospitals after police found them lying outside, bleeding from gunshot wounds. Police determined the 47- and 41-year-old men were involved in a domestic dispute. Officers plan to interview the men again today. The brothers, whose names were not released, were found around 10:50 p.m. Wednesday outside 723 Ann St. after police received a 911 call of unknown trouble and someone bleeding at the residence.
Drug arrests
NILES -- A six-month investigation resulted in the arrest of three Niles residents on felony charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs. Investigators from the Trumbull County Drug Task Force and the Niles Narcotics Unit arrested Brian Sumpter, 24, and Stephanie Gregory, 25, both of 128 N. Cedar St., and Robert Rorison, 25, of 112 Williams St., on secret indictments Wednesday. Officers, who took the suspects into custody at their homes without incident, also seized a vehicle. Sumpter is charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in OxyContin, and Gregory faces three counts of the same charge. Rorison was charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in Ecstasy and two counts of aggravated trafficking in OxyContin. All are being held in the Trumbull County jail.
Flu shot clinics
WARREN -- The city's flu shot clinics run through Nov. 25. Traditional Medicare part B and Medicaid will pay for the shot. For all others, including Medicare HMO, Anthem Senior Advantage or other programs, the cost is $10 and people should bring insurance cards. The vaccine is available from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the SCOPE Center to people 65 and older or people 50 and older with a chronic disease.
Beginning Wednesday, the vaccine is available to people 21 and older who are not in a high-risk group, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the city health district offices, 418 S. Main St. The vaccine also will be given at the health district on the following dates:

Nov. 13, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Nov. 18, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Nov. 20, 9 to 11 a.m.
Nov. 21, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Nov. 22, 9 to 11 a.m.
Nov. 25, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
The vaccine will be given to city workers and their families from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at the health district. The pneumonia vaccine also is available to people 65 and older who haven't had it before. A separate appointment is needed to receive the vaccine and there is a $20 charge.

Rape reported
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Choffin Career Center student told her grandmother Wednesday evening that she had been raped by a classmate, reports show. Police questioned the 16-year-old girl at Forum Northside Medical Center, where she was taken by her grandmother for a rape examination. The North Side girl told police that a boy raped her in a greenhouse area of Choffin and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
Charged with theft
YOUNGSTOWN -- Richard W. Varble Jr. promised a taxi driver in Akron that his mother on Midland Avenue in Youngstown would pay the fare, but when the cabbie tried to collect Wednesday, the mother refused, police said. The cabbie left without his $87.05 fare, and Varble, 24, was charged with theft. Varble pleaded innocent at arraignment Wednesday in municipal court. Bond was set at $1,200, with 10 percent allowed to be posted.
Facing charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 1997 GMC Jimmy reported stolen to Liberty police Tuesday wound up on the city's East Side on Wednesday. The driver, Carlos T. Gowdy, 29, of Canton, faces charges of receiving stolen property and driving without a license. Police arrested him on Truesdale Avenue. He also was served with a warrant charging him with a probation violation. Gowdy was paroled from Belmont Correctional Institution on Aug. 22. He had been incarcerated Dec. 18, 2001, for attempted receiving stolen property, records show.
New Wilmingtonswears in chief
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The borough's new police chief, Carmen Piccirillo, was to be sworn in at 3 p.m. today. Mayor Wendell Wagner said Piccirillo will start his duties Friday. The 52-year-old Lakeville, Minn., man was hired in August by borough council to fill the position being left vacant by Chief Richard Hanna's retirement. Hanna has been chief since August 1981. Piccirillo is a former Pennsylvania State Police trooper and FBI agent.
