OHIO STATE Clarett probably will play against Minnesota

The freshman running back from Warren Harding re-injured his left shoulder in the win over Penn State.
COLUMBUS (AP) -- Freshman running back Maurice Clarett was listed as probable for No. 6 Ohio State's game Saturday against No. 23 Minnesota.
Coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday that Clarett needs time to recover from nerve damage to his left shoulder.
Clarett was first hurt two weeks ago in the Buckeyes' 19-14 win over Wisconsin. He re-injured the shoulder on his fourth carry in Saturday's 13-7 win over Penn State.
"Nerves do not heal quickly," Tressel said. "He might line up Saturday and play 55 plays or he might line up and play three plays. Rest is the only thing that eventually solves nerve problems. We don't have a whole bunch of time for rest."
Over 1,000 yards
Clarett rushed for 39 yards on four carries, giving him 1,019 yards for the season. He became only the second Ohio State freshman to pass 1,000 yards in rushing and needs 108 yards to break Robert Smith's school record of 1,126 yards for freshmen.
Two years ago the Buckeyes were 5-0 and No. 5 when they returned home from a big win against Wisconsin -- and promptly lost to Minnesota 29-17. Many later pointed to that game as one of the turning points that led to the firing of coach John Cooper at the end of what would become an 8-4 season.
Now the No. 6 Buckeyes (9-0, 4-0 Big Ten) meet 23rd-ranked Minnesota (7-1, 3-1) again, under eerily similar circumstances. Ohio State held off No. 18 Penn State 13-7 last week while the Gophers haven't played since beating Michigan State 28-7 two weeks ago.
"It wasn't fun. It was kind of embarrassing," Ohio State free safety Donnie Nickey said about the still-painful memory of the game two years ago. "They ruined our season that time, the same situation, the same atmosphere. Hopefully we're going to learn from that lesson and come out fast and come out hard."
Will be mentioned
Tressel said he will mention what happened the last time that Minnesota came to Ohio Stadium, but there is no need to belabor the point.
"You bring it up once for the folks that weren't here. I think history is important, especially if you weren't part of that history," he said. "Then you leave it go."
It doesn't sound as if the Buckeyes needed even that one reminder.
"I think everyone's pretty much heard that through the locker room and the meeting rooms," said cornerback Derek Fox, a high school senior when the Gophers stunned the Buckeyes. "It was a big loss for us back in 2000. We were the fourth- or fifth-ranked team in the country. We don't want that to happen again."
Tressel said that linebacker Cie Grant should be able to play against Minnesota after missing the Penn State game with an ankle sprain.
Offensive tackle Shane Olivea remains sidelined after having an appendectomy last week, but should begin practicing today.
Tressel also said that wide receiver Chris Gamble would likely see significant playing time at cornerback. Gamble became the first two-way starter for Ohio State in 39 years when he started at cornerback and receiver against Penn State, getting on the field for 95 plays.
