2 arrested in robbery, assault



MERCER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said two men have been arrested in a strong-arm robbery at a home on Valley Road in Jefferson Township.
Dennis P. Michael of Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, and John R. Wilcox of Ohio Street, Sharon, are charged with robbery, theft and aggravated assault, police said.
They were arraigned before District Justice Ruth French and freed on bond, police said.
The two are accused of going to the home of Paul Pesek on Valley Road around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, assaulting Pesek and taking an undisclosed amount of money, some tools and a .22-caliber rifle.
Pesek suffered a broken nose, an eye injury and numerous cuts in the attack, police said.
Police are also investigating an armed robbery at Brewmeister Distributors on Irishtown Road in Pine Township.
Police said a masked man carrying a gun entered the business around 6 p.m. Saturday, demanded cash and then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
