PITTSBURGH -- Alexandre Daigle scored one goal and set up another as Pittsburgh scored four unanswered power-play goals. Daigle, back this season after a two-year retirement, scored his first goal since March 3, 2000, at 16:23 of the first period to put the Penguins ahead 2-1. He set up Michal Rozsival's power-play goal at 12:08 of the second period to make it 4-1. The Sabres, who entered as the league's second-most penalized team, allowed the Penguins six power plays. The surging Pittsburgh power play has scored in seven straight games and is 13-for-42 in that span. Aleksey Morozov and Alexei Kovalev scored their seventh goals of the season for Pittsburgh and NHL scoring leader Mario Lemieux added two assists to give him 18 points in eight games as the Penguins rebounded from a 7-3 loss in Detroit on Friday. Adam Mair, acquired in July from Los Angeles, scored his first goal for the Sabres at 8:24 of the opening period when he slid his own rebound past Johan Hedberg for Buffalo's first shorthanded goal of the season.
Rangers 4, Maple Leafs 3
TORONTO -- Pavel Bure scored with 57 seconds remaining to give New York the victory. Mikael Samuelsson tied it at 3 with 5:44 remaining to help the Rangers win for the third time in 10 games. After a Toronto turnover, Bure skated in alone and put the puck between goalie Ed Belfour's legs. Toronto's Travis Green gave away the puck after a bad pass by rookie defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo. Mike Richter made 36 saves for the Rangers.
Canadiens 5, Senators 3
MONTREAL -- Jeff Hackett made 45 saves and Yanic Perreault scored twice to lead Montreal. Craig Rivet, Richard Zednik and Patrice Brisebois scored for Montreal, which got its first home win in five games despite being outshot 48-21. Hackett, who took over for league MVP Jose Theodore midway through Thursday's 6-2 loss in Philadelphia, remained undefeated in three starts this season. Martin Havlat, Daniel Alfredsson and Wade Redden scored for Ottawa.
Devils 5, Lightning 1
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- John Madden scored twice and set up another and goal-starved New Jersey knocked surprising Tampa Bay from the unbeaten ranks. Joe Nieuwendyk, Patrik Elias and Stephen Guolla also scored as the Devils had their biggest offensive night of the season in winning their third straight game and for the sixth time in seven. Martin Brodeur allowed only a third-period goal by Chris Dingman in recording his league-best sixth win.
Flyers 6, Islanders 2
UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- Michal Handzus and Jeremy Roenick each scored twice and Philadelphia scored twice in the opening minute. Justin Williams and Keith Primeau also scored for the Flyers. Brad Isbister scored both Islanders goals.
Bruins 4, Thrashers 3
BOSTON -- Brian Rolston scored his second goal of the third period on a power play with 25.3 seconds remaining. Joe Thornton and Marty McInnis also scored for the Bruins. Ilya Kovalchuk, Tony Hrkac and Daniel Tjarnqvist scored for Atlanta.
Blackhawks 3, Hurricanes 3
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Boris Mironov scored with 12:28 remaining in the third period to cap Chicago's two-goal comeback. Rod Brind'Amour had a goal and an assist and Jeff O'Neill extended his point streak to a career-high eight games with a goal for Carolina.
Panthers 1, Capitals 1
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Roberto Luongo made 34 saves, including six in overtime, as Florida and Washington played to a tie. The only shot to beat Luongo deflected in off the stick of teammate Ivan Majesky in the second period. Ivan Novoseltsev scored for Florida.
Oilers 4, Mighty Ducks 3
EDMONTON, Alberta -- Brian Swanson had a goal and two assists as Edmonton rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period. Jason Chimera, Eric Brewer and Mike Comrie also scored for the Oilers. Petr Sykora scored twice, Mike Leclerc had a goal and Steve Rucchin had three assists for the Mighty Ducks.
Predators 3, Red Wings 1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Andreas Johansson had two goals and an assist as Nashville won its first game of the season. Nicklas Lidstrom scored for Detroit. Adam Hall also scored for the Predators.
