ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Iowa Hawkeyes beat Michigan so badly that they were able to celebrate and sing with their fans in a mostly empty Michigan Stadium.
"I enjoyed that," Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz said after Iowa's 34-9 victory Saturday. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't."
Brad Banks threw three touchdown passes as the 13th-ranked Hawkeyes handed the eighth-ranked Wolverines their worst home loss since 1967.
The Hawkeyes (8-1, 5-0 Big Ten) won their sixth straight game and beat Michigan for the first time since 1990, the last time Iowa won a Big Ten title.
Michigan (6-2, 3-1) had won four straight. The last time the Wolverines lost this badly at home was a 34-0 defeat to Michigan State on Oct. 14, 1967, two years before Bo Schembechler became head coach.
The Hawkeyes are in good position to at least earn a share of the conference championship. Ohio State is not on their schedule.
To earn a spot in the Rose Bowl, the Hawkeyes must win their final three games, and Ohio State must lose at least once, because the Buckeyes would win the tiebreaker with a better overall record.
Purdue 42, Northwestern 13
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Purdue's game plan against Northwestern was predictable and unimaginative: pound the ball into the middle against the nation's lowest-ranked rushing defense.
But the results were eye-opening, producing 407 yards rushing for the Boilermakers' most productive day on the ground since 1994 in a trampling of the Wildcats.
"The holes were definitely pretty big," said Brandon Jones, one of two Purdue backs to crack the 100-yard mark.
It didn't seem to matter whom Coach Joe Tiller sent in as Purdue (4-5, 2-3 Big Ten) cruised to its first road victory in more than a year. Jerod Void added two rushing touchdowns and Purdue amassed 551 yards.
Northwestern (2-7, 0-5) lost its fifth straight game and 10th in a row in the conference.
Illinois 45, Indiana 14
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Antoineo Harris ran for a career-high four touchdowns and 176 yards to lead Illinois.
Harris scored on runs of 1, 4, 28 and 5 yards, and he was taken out of the game after playing just one series in the second half for the Fighting Illini (3-5, 2-2 Big Ten).
Indiana (3-5, 1-3) scored two touchdowns late in the game to avoid being shut out. The Hoosiers have lost nine straight in Champaign dating to 1979.
Illinois quarterback Dustin Ward, making his second start since he was benched earlier in the season, threw two TD passes and was 16-of-23 for 197 yards.
Wisconsin 42, Michigan St. 24
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Brooks Bollinger threw three touchdown passes and ran for two others Saturday night to help Wisconsin end a three-game losing streak.
Bollinger, knocked out of last week's loss to Ohio State with a concussion, led the Badgers (6-3, 1-3 Big Ten) to touchdowns on three of their five first-quarter possessions.
Michigan State (3-5, 1-3), which surrendered nearly 400 rushing yards a week earlier in a lopsided loss to Minnesota, has been outscored 114-47 in its past three games.
