Crestview board to discuss stadium

COLUMBIANA -- Crestview school officials will meet with architects at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss renovation of the football stadium.
Superintendent John Dilling said the special board meeting will be a work session with no action taken.
Dilling said architects are working on a variety of options for the renovation, and the board wants to present the options at the Nov. 13 board meeting.
He said the board will seek input from the public at that meeting, to be 7 p.m. at the high school.
The board wants to replace the wooden bleachers of the stadium with aluminum ones set in concrete, Dilling said.
He said some of the options would include moving the track oval to another location. He said the concrete bleachers would require more space than the wooden ones.
He said the board will use $400,000 from the permanent improvement fund to replace the bleachers. He said the bleachers are about 40 years old and the board has been concerned that they are a safety hazard.
He said since the board wants new bleachers in place for the 2003 season, plans are to advertise for bids in December and start the work soon afterward.
The project will also include restroom facilities that can also be used by people attending soccer, track and softball games on fields nearby, Dilling said.
