AUCTIONS
XNorth Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, North Lima, will hold an auction at 6 p.m. Thursday at the fellowship hall. Such items as gift baskets, lawn mowers, quilts, decorator items, table and chairs, a Lionel train and articles donated by merchants will be available. There will be a food stand and bake sale beginning at 4:30 p.m.
XRotary Club of Warren will sponsor a community auction Nov. 16 at W.D. Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. N.W., Warren. Featured will be hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and silent auction at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 7 and a live auction at 9. Seating is limited to 400, and reservations are required by Nov. 1. The cost is $50. BAZAARS
XGustavus Federated Church, route 87 and 193, will hold a fall bazaar and turkey dinner Saturday. Booths will be open from 1 to 5 p.m., and dinners will be served from 1:30 to 7. Cost for dinners is $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 6-12 and free to those under 6.
XKinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., will sponsor a bazaar and turkey dinner Nov. 2. The trash and treasure booth will open at 11 a.m., and other booths including Ye Old Emporium, a country kitchen, candy land and senior citizens will open at 1 p.m. The dinner will be served starting at 1:30. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children 4-12 and free for those 3 and younger.
BINGO-CARD PARTIES
XAltar and Rosary Society of Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Church, 421 Covington St., Youngstown, is sponsoring a bingo and card party from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church hall. Refreshments will be served. The cost is $4.
XRebekah Lodge 608, 1371 Depot St., Mineral Ridge, will hold a card and bingo party at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 Admission is $4 and includes luncheon and door prizes.
XSt. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna Center, will have a card party at 7 p.m. Thursday. Cost of $4 will include prizes and refreshments. Take your own cards.
XStaff and residents of Shepherd of the Valley-Poland, 301 W. Western Reserve Road, are hosting a "Fall Fling" card party from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the main dining room of the residence. CRAFT SHOWS
XExtension Homemakers Council of Mahoning County will hold a craft show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, Canfield Road, Cornersburg. Patterns and instructions for making craft items for the holidays will be sold. There will be a Chinese auction of handmade items, and a light lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted. XHoyt Institute of Fine Arts will hold its Holiday House Fine Arts and Crafts Show from Nov. 2 to Dec. 22 at the historic mansion, 124 E. Leasure Ave., New Castle, Pa. The opening day celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 2 and will feature a presentation by the New Castle Playhouse Ministars in a salute to Broadway. The craft show will feature such items as handblown glass ornaments and vases, handpainted pillows, homemade dip mixes and jams, handmade jewelry, silk floral arrangements, tree toppers, wooden boxes, wine-glass charms and original paintings. DANCES
XSalem Memorial Building Association, 785 E. State St., Salem, will sponsor its annual Halloween Bash for adults from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday. FUND-RAISERS
XHabitat for Humanity of Mahoning County will sponsor its third annual 5-K race and two-mile walk Nov. 2 starting at Price of Peace Lutheran Church, Route 224 and Shawbutte Street in Poland. Registration will begin at 7 a.m.; advance registration may be made by calling (330) 758-4513. Race-day registration is $15 and advance registration, $12. Prizes and awards will be given including T-shirts to the first 250 participants. Youngstown Road Runners Club sponsors this race.
XLions District 13-D will participate in a statewide "Candy Day" fund-raiser Saturday to benefit community service programs designed to help unsighted, handicapped and needy people. Rolls of mint candies will be distributed to people willing to make charitable contributions of $1 and above at sales stations in shopping malls, supermarkets and other high-volume traffic areas.
XTricountry Four Wheelers will sponsor a road rally and poker run Nov. 2 at Beaver Creek State Park. The event will begin at 2 p.m., and cost is $5 per vehicle. Those interested may also take a covered dish for a dinner to follow the event. Prizes will be awarded, and there will be a 50-50 raffle. XZeta Gamma Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha will hold its second annual Pink Ribbon Cheer Classic from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Liberty High School gymnasium, Churchill-Hubbard Road, Liberty. HAYRIDES
XHartford Optimist Club will hold an annual nonhaunted hayride for young children from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (cost is $2) and a haunted hayride from 7:30 to 11 p.m. (cost is $3) Saturday and Sunday at Storyland, 3 miles north of Hartford Center on state Route 7, Burghill. STYLE SHOWS
XUrsuline High School will sponsor a style show and luncheon at 11 a.m. Sunday at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman. The theme will be "Celebrate the Ages, Celebrate UHS." Tickets are $30, and tables of eight are available. There will be a raffle for a cash prize and other prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship program. XMount Zion Baptist Church Altar Guild will sponsor a trip to Monroeville Mall Nov. 30 for a Christmas shopping spree.
