YOUNGSTOWN -- The football game between Rayen School and Ursuline will be played Thursday at Stambaugh Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
Laraway 15that Columbus race
COLUMBUS -- Brian Laraway, a graduate of Youngstown State University and a native of Austintown, placed 15th in 2 hours, 33 minutes, 43 seconds Sunday in the Columbus Marathon 26-mile run.
A Fitch High graduate, Laraway was participating in his first marathon in field of 3,000 runners.
He was a track and field and cross country letterman at both YSU and Fitch.
Sergey Fedotov of Russia beat local runner Jim Jurcevich by 12 seconds to win the Columbus Marathon in 2 hours, 18 minutes, 5 seconds.
Lyudmyla Pushkina of Ukraine won the women's division in a course-record 2:28:23.
Local Blue Streaks
ALLIANCE -- When John Carroll lost to Mount Union 35-16 Saturday, five area athletes, two of them starters, were on the Blue Streaks' roster.
Scott Pavalko, a 6-foot-3, 255-pound senior from Boardman High, started at left guard, and Brian Brooke, a 5-9, 190 senior from Cardinal Mooney, started at outside linebacker. Brooke was credited with six tackles.
Ryan Wolf, a 6-2, 190 senior punter and defensive back from West Branch, averaged 39 yards on six punts and he assisted on a tackle.
George Theofilos, a 5-9, 155 junior from Howland, kicked off twice for the Blue Streaks.
Nick Cerni, a 5-9, 165 sophomore running back from Mooney, is also a member of the John Carroll team.
Fan Jam at SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University men's and women's basketball teams will co-host the 2002 Fan Jam Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in Morrow Field House.

DAYTON -- The Youngstown Phantom Rockets defeated Dayton 4-2.
The Rockets fell behind 2-0 in the second period, but scored three unanswered goals by Dustin Hawthorne (David Wilmert assist), Scott Kochniarczyk (Tom Skook and David Wilmert assist), and Tom Skook (Charlie Boivin and Jay St. John assists)
David Wilmert scored the Rockets' final goal, assisted by Eric Mayhey, in the final period.
Mercer finale
MERCER, Pa. -- The 2002 season came to a close Saturday night at Mercer Raceway Park with the completion of the rescheduled Little Guy Nationals. Celebrating in the Moore's Auto Body victory lane were Dan Lewis (Butterfield's Pub Stock Cars), Karlin Miller (Micro Sprints) and Tracey Fritter (Modified Lites).
Carter to meetwith Dolphins coach
MIAMI -- Miami coach Dave Wannstedt was to meet with Cris Carter today, and if the NFL's second all-time leading receiver passes a physical, the Dolphins are expected to bring him out of retirement and sign him for the remainder of the season.
Millen apologizes
DETROIT -- Detroit Lions president Matt Millen apologized for calling one of his players a "devout coward."
Millen, speaking after Detroit beat the Chicago Bears 23-20 in overtime, said he was "completely wrong" for making the comments about an unidentified player Thursday on Mike Ditka's Chicago radio show.
Unitas statueunveiled
BALTIMORE -- A 13-foot statue of Johnny Unitas was unveiled at the main entrance of the Baltimore Ravens' stadium, and he was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor. The Hall of Fame quarterback died at 69 on Sept. 11.

Agassi wins when Novak can't play
MADRID, Spain -- Andre Agassi won his record 15th Masters Series title when Jiri Novak pulled out of the Madrid final with a groin injury.
Novak hurt himself in Saturday's semifinal win over qualifier Fabrice Santoro.

ZURICH, Switzerland -- Patty Schnyder beat second-seeded Lindsay Davenport 6-7 (5), 7-6 (8), 6-3 at the Swisscom Challenge.
Schnyder won her first title of the year by beating the defending champion for the first time in six career meetings.
