MERCER COUNTY \ Grant awards



The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has awarded 14 community revitalization grants to Mercer County municipalities. Sen. Robert Robbins of Greenville, R-50th, announced the awards today. They are:
Greenville Area Economic Development Corp.: $10,000 to buy equipment and conduct job skills training.
Greenville Public Library: $5,000 to buy a microfilm storage cabinet, video display units and an electronic typewriter.
Greenville Historical Society: $5,000 to help replace the heating system of the historic Waugh House.
Greenville Symphony Society: $5,000 to assist with cultural activities.
Greenville Airport: $10,000 to assist with tarmac and taxiway renovations.
Grove City Airport: $10,000 to upgrade the fuel facility.
Mercer County Grange: $10,000 to replace the Exhibit Building roof at the fairgrounds.
Penn-Northwest Development Corp.: $25,000 to continue a business internship program.
Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau: $30,000 to assist in the revitalization of the county through tourism.
Springfield Township: $5,000 to help buy 10 portable radios and related equipment for the Mercer County Fire Police.
Hermitage: $20,000 to improve a softball field and practice fields used primarily by girls between 6 and 18.
Mercer Borough: $50,000 to help replace the municipal machine building on East Market Street.
Jackson Township: $15,000 to have an independent analysis done on soil and water on a 1,000-acre farm that is applying bio-solids as fertilizer.
Buhl Farm Trust: $25,000 to help with repairs to the parking lot adjacent to the park's Casino building.
