"I think that girls today have more confidence in themselves to plan their own futures rather than have their futures planned for them. Girls have the esteem to get involved with what they are good at rather than being shut down. We are more individualistic and can make decisions on our own."
TRISTAN ULA, junior,Poland Seminary High School
"I think the girl power issue has been taken too far. Yes, there is still inequality among the sexes, but we're striving to have everyone looked as equal. I don't think that pointing out that someone is a different sex is going to help; it just makes you focus more on the fact that they are different."
STEPHANIE DAY, senior,
Springfield Local High School
"The aspect I like most about being a girl today is that the equality movement hasn't gone past where it should be. We aren't given any 'special' privileges simply because we are female and we have the fair opportunity to compete with males on the same level. I love opening the sports section and seeing my girlfriends on the front page. Especially now that it's college admission time. I'm watching girls get free rides both athletically and academically."
