Kiwanis induct officers at YMCA

YOUNGSTOWN -- Barbara Smith of Girard was installed as president of the Downtown Youngstown Kiwanis Club at a meeting Sept. 27 at the YMCA.
Those inducted to serve with her are Michele Merkel of Warren, president-elect; Chris McCarty of Canfield, vice president; Jerry Osborne of Poland, secretary-treasurer; Bill Buchman of Youngstown, assistant secretary; Joseph Bratek of Campbell, administrative secretary; and Ed Gluck of Boardman, immqediate past president.
John Easterday, Sue Catullo and Leo Puhalla were named to the organization's board of directors.
The chapter was established in 1916 as the 15th club of Kiwanis International. Its motto is "We Build," and the group raises money to benefit local service and youth organizations.
Club meetings are held at noon Fridays at the YMCA. New members are welcome.
