VOLLEYBALL Poland, Southeast advance with ease



Fitch, Sebring, Bristol and Lakeview also posted sectional wins.
BOARDMAN -- The Poland and Southeast volleyball teams won easily Wednesday in the Division II sectional tournament at Boardman High School.
Poland blanked Cardinal Mooney, 15-0, 15-0, while Southeast defeated Rayen, 15-0, 15-2.
For Poland (17-5), Kristen Stanyard had 15 points with six aces while Dee Muransky had 13 points with four aces.
Steffi Graf had six kills and four digs while Raeanne Coppola made five kills and two blocks.
Mooney finished with a 3-16 record.
For Southeast (11-13), Kelly Graham had eight points with two aces while Olivia Weber had four points with two aces. Bethany Ensinger had seven assists, Henry Starr had six kills and Jessica Hines made four kills
For Rayen (7-11), Ashley Myers and Taryn Perkins each scored one point.
Division I
STOW -- Austintown Fitch defeated Akron Ellet 15-0, 15-6 at Stow High School. For the Falcons (18-4), Jessica Evans scored eight points with six aces and 10 digs while Maggie Case added seven points, seven kills, three blocks and 10 digs.
Stacie Mang had four points, an ace, 16 assists and a dig.
Ellet finished with a 19-5 record.
Division IV
LISBON -- Sebring defeated Southington 15-5, 15-12 at Lisbon High School.
In another match, Bristol downed Maplewood, 10-15, 15-9, 15-10.
Stacey Wilson sparked Sebring (7-13) with 12 points, two aces and three kills. Mallory Schneider added 10 points, four assists and 20 sets for the Trojans while Erika Eaton had five points, five assists and 25 sets.
Melissa Smith led the Wildcats (3-14) with eight points, three assists and one block. Haylie Myers had three kills and an ace.
Bristol (15-5) was led by Amy Weeks with 11 points. Shannon Burchett had four aces and three blocks, and Katie Casserlie made eight digs and five kills.
Brittany Bollinger paced Maplewood (12-11) with 14 points and 12 assists while Jennifer Grayson added three aces, five kills and two blocks.
Division II
JEFFERSON -- Megan Taylor had eight kills, 11 assists and two blocks to lead Lakeview past Chardon, 15-7, 15-11. Whitney Keyser made eight kills and six digs while Tina Pinter had 10 points and six aces.
Regular season
NORTH JACKSON -- Erika Stamm scored nine points and had 18 sets as Jackson-Milton defeated Lowellville 15-9, 15-5.
Corey Velk scored seven points, with one ace for the Bluejays (13-8, 7-5 Inter-County League). Shauna Durig made nine kills.
Kathy Peterson led the Rockets (4-13, 0-12) with seven points and eight digs. Christa Flora had two points and three kills.
