A third person accused of passing a fake bill waived her right to a hearing.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Two men accused of passing fake $100 bills at a Lawrence County restaurant were ordered to stand trial.
Ralph Riddle Jr., 24, of West Myrtle Street, Youngstown, and James Hudson, 29, whose last known address was Fruit Street, Sharon, appeared Friday before District Justice Melissa Amodie for a preliminary hearing.
The men were arrested Sept. 29 at Shad Hanna's restaurant on Butler Avenue after the bartender and a waitress discovered they had received fake $100 bills. The men were later found to be wearing bulletproof vests, police said. Suspected crack cocaine was also found on Hudson, they said.
Both were remanded to the Lawrence County Jail after their hearing, where they are being held on $25,000 bond.
Charges
Hudson is charged with criminal conspiracy to commit forgery, two counts of forgery, theft by deception, possessing instruments of crime and possession of a controlled substance.
Riddle faces charges of conspiracy to commit forgery, receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, possessing a prohibitive offensive weapon and possessing instruments of crime.
A third person, Vincenta Anna Silva, 34, of Raymond Street, New Castle, also accused of passing a fake $100 bill at Shad Hanna's that same night, waived her right to a preliminary hearing Friday. She faces charges of forgery, theft by deception and criminal conspiracy.
All three will be arraigned in the next few months and then trial dates will be set. Police would not say if Silva has any link to Riddle and Hudson.
