Girard provides bagsfor fall leaf collection
GIRARD -- Residents are required to use paper lawn bags for the annual leaf collection.
The city has bought bags which will be available while supplies last. The first five bags are free with photo identification or utility bill. Five additional bags cost $1.
Bags will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays from Oct. 16 through Nov. 23 at the street department, 943 S. State St.
Leaves will be picked up with the regular garbage collection. Call (330) 545-1322.
Vienna event committee
VIENNA -- The "Vienna Celebrates Ohio 200" committee will have its organizational meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the town hall.
All those interested in helping plan a communitywide celebration are invited to attend. Call Cheri Fiest at (330) 856-4585.
Niles historical series
NILES -- McKinley Memorial Library and the Niles Historical Society will co-sponsor a series of programs in conjunction with the Ohio Bicentennial celebration.
The groups will celebrate Ohio's history by focusing on a prominent citizen of Niles during each of the six programs in the series.
During the first presentation, Trumbull County historian Wendell Lauth will discuss James Heaton, founder of Niles, at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the auditorium of the library.
