Business group to honor leaders



LIBERTY -- Junior Achievement of Mahoning Valley will recognize seven local business and community leaders for their contributions to the organization at its 50th anniversary celebration dinner, set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex.
Honorees are:
UAlan Brant, retired chairman of Second Bancorp, Inc.
UPaul Herold, retired division manager of East Ohio Gas;
UThomas Humphries, president, Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber
UEdward Hulme, member service manager for the Chamber;
UBetty Jo Licata, dean of Williamson College of Business at Youngstown State University
UC. Reid Schmutz, president of YSU Foundation
UGeorge Woodman, retired from Harrington, Hoppe, Mitchell, LTD.
Based on Church Hill Road in Liberty, JA of Mahoning Valley aims to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics. Its programs will reach more than 10,000 pupils in 95 school districts across Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, and Ashtabula counties this year.
Internationally, Junior Achievement programs will reach nearly 4.2 million pupils in 113 countries.
