Senior TE Nevin Baker had a season-high four pass catches for 60 yards and also blocked well to be named Offensive Titan of the Week. Sophomore CB Justin Martinchek had three tackles and a pass breakup and was named Defensive Titan of the Week. Junior FB Ryan Mitchell (Warren Harding) had one solo tackle and played well on the return and coverage units to earn honors as Special Teams Titan of the Week. Sophomore TB Scott Froelich rushed for 134 yards in 27 carries and one TD, and had two catches for 18 yards and one TD, to also pace Westminster. Junior QB Matt Robison (Wilmington Area) completed 11 of 19 passes for 166 yards and two TDs. Sophomore WR Matt Steve had four catches for 90 yards and one TD. Sophomore WR Ben Haug (New Middletown Springfield) had four receptions for 60 yards, and averaged 33.3 yards on four punts. Game time: 1:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium, Alliance.Scouting report: Mount Union ripped Otterbein, 55-0, while Heidelberg defeated Marietta, 38-27. Senior RB Dan Pugh scored a career-high five TDs in the first half for Mount Union. The five TDs were one less than the school record of six TDs tallied by Leo Grimes in 1931. Game time: 1:30 p.m. at Robertson Field in Meadville, Pa..Scouting report: Allegheny lost to Wabash, 24-14. Junior QB Bubba Smith finished 16-of-28 for 152 yards while WR Jon Turner had six receptions for 69 yards. Sophomore Jamie Sye totaled 72 yards rushing on 20 carries. Defensively, the Gators were led by junior Ryan James who had eight tackles, while Mike Soltis and J.P. McFeeley added seven stops. Turner has 86 career receptions, good for fourth-place all-time at Allegheny. Hiram was idle last week.Radio: WMGM-AM (1490).
WAYNESBURG (2-1, 1-0 PAC)vs. THIEL (2-3, 1-1 PAC)
Game time: 1:30 p.m. at Alumni Stadium, Greenville, Pa.Scouting report: Waynesburg beat Bethany, 42-21, while Thiel beat Grove City, 23-3. Thiel had three interceptions, including an 82-yard TD return by sophomore DB Kennard Davis (Farrell). Sophomore QB Daryl Moore had a team-high 104 yards rushing and two TDs, including a 79-yard scoring dash. Junior RB Justin Napotnik (Sharpsville) rushed for 68 yards in 11 carries, while freshman Darious Thompson ran for 61 yards in 13 attempts. For the Tomcats on defense, freshman LB Dante Napier (New Castle) had 10 tackles while senior DB Jay Salmen (Berlin Center Western Reserve) had two interceptions to boost his season total to five. Sophomore DE George Kum-nji had six tackles. Game time: 1:30 p.m., Fawcett Stadium, Canton.Scouting report: Geneva lost to St. Francis (Ind.), 35-28, while Malone lost to Walsh, 29-22, in two OTs. Marko Thomas caught five passes for 99 yards for Geneva. Thomas also set two career school records. He caught the 31st TD pass of his career and boosted his career receiving yards to 2,974, to surpass Mike Holaren in both records. Thomas also tied Ron Michel's school record for total career receptions with 170. QB Ben Swallow (West Branch) completed 20 of 34 passes for 263 yards and one TD. For Malone, QB Eric rector hit on 15 of 32 passes and two TDs, while RB Joel Peterson rushed for 147 yards in 30 carries.
