Clothing ministry
YOUNGSTOWN -- Fifth Avenue Community Church, 1361 Fifth Ave., is starting a clothing ministry for people of all ages. Fine Linens-n-Things will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. There will be free coffee and doughnuts. Donations will be accepted. The ministry will be open this Saturday.
Fire departments
COLUMBUS -- Several Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana county fire departments and support organizations have received state money for training, safety equipment and emergency water access projects.
The volunteer fire assistance grants, which provide federal matching funds of up to $10,000 to communities with fewer than 10,000 people, are administered by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry.
Local beneficiaries of the program are Negley, $2,311; North Georgetown, $1,000; Beaver Township, $1,650; Green Township, $3,000; Bazetta Township, $3,000; Bloomfield Township, $300; Champion Township, $3,000; Mecca Township, $2,675; and Newton Falls, $3,000.
A total of 69 fire departments and support organizations across Ohio received funding.
