SOCCER Masternick gets 3 goals, reaches 100 for career



The Boardman High girls earned their 10th win with a 5-0 defeat of Warren JFK.
BOARDMAN -- Senior Janeen Masternick scored three goals and reached 100 for her career, as Boardman High blanked visiting Warren JFK 5-0 in a girls soccer game Wednesday.
Brittany Sirak scored a goal and had an assist. Pam Prystash and Maggie Mills also had assists. Caitlin Hackett got Boardman's other goal 14 minutes into the second half.
The Spartans (10-3-2), who had a 4-0 lead at the intermission, had 20 shots on goal to seven for JFK.
Boardman goalie Liz Agnew had five saves, while JFK's keeper, Michelle Rossio, had seven.
Fitch 5, East Liverpool 0
AUSTINTOWN -- Junior Danielle Storey scored twice as the Falcons ended their regular season with a 12-1-3 record.
Storey scored first, then freshman Jodi Bowlen got an assist from freshman Brittney Getz to put Fitch ahead 2-0. Storey made the score 3-0 with a goal on an assist by junior Kelly Croysdale.
In the second half, Croysdale and freshman Amanda Sprowl finished the scoring.
Fitch took 27 shots on goal while East Liverpool attempted nine. Kristie Brendlinger had two saves and Tracy Lesicko six for Fitch. For the Potters (7-7), Jackie Riley had three saves and Katie McIlvain nine.
The shutout was Fitch's 10th of the season.
Poland 2, Champion 0
POLAND -- Britt Davis, a junior, scored both goals for Poland. Davis scored her first goal on an assist by Dana Donchess of the Bulldogs (11-3-1) with 24 minutes remaining in the first half. With 26 minutes remaining in the second half, Davis scored on another assist from Donchess.
Poland had 21 shots on goal, compared to five for the Golden Flashes (9-4-3).
The Bulldogs' goalie Landry Yankle had four saves, while Champion's keeper Danielle Woods had 23 saves.
West Branch 3, Salem 1
BELOIT -- Anina Beegle scored two goals to pace the Warriors (5-7-3). Paige Stryffeler added the other one and she had an assist.
Angela Meier and Aimee Rice each had assist for West Branch.
Boys
POLAND -- Maz Pearce scored the winning goal late in the second half on an assist from J.R. Flis, as Poland defeated visiting Salem 2-1.
Flis put the Bulldogs (5-5-1) ahead 1-0 when he scored in the first half.
Matt Barnett of the Quakers scored to tie it at 1.
Crestview 4, Oak Glen 2
CUMBERLAND, W. Va. -- Ken Wagenhouser had all four goals for the Rebels (11-3-1) while Brad Elder and Jake McElhaney had a goal apiece for Oak Glen. Jacob Pruitt and Chris Cook each had two assists for Crestview.
