CRESTVIEW School board will replace bleachers

The track will be moved to the soccer field.
COLUMBIANA -- Crestview school officials want to replace aging bleachers at the football stadium before next fall.
Terry McCoy of Hanahan-Strollo & amp; Associates Inc. architects of Youngstown, presented a plan Wednesday to the board of education to replace the wooden and iron bleachers with aluminum bleachers based in concrete.
Superintendent John Dilling said the board will use $400,000 from the permanent improvement fund to replace the bleachers. He said the bleachers are about 40 years old and the board has been concerned that they are a safety hazard.
Dilling said parents and other Crestview sports fans would like the project to include a new press box, but the bleachers are the immediate need.
He said the board plans to advertise for bids in December and begin the work soon after.
Track to move
He said the track oval around the football field will be lost to make room for the new seating. However, it will be relocated to the nearby soccer field.
Dilling said the new bleachers will be designed so that people can't fall through them. The current seats are open underneath, and that has also long been a safety concern of the board, he said. The project will also include restrooms.
