PEACE AWARDS Mayor's Task Force



Winners of the 2002 Peace Awards, to be given Oct. 21 by the Mayor's Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention:
Individual Volunteer
Dianne Schwartz of Canfield, a survivor of domestic abuse who has become an advocate, author, speaker and teacher on the topic.
Individual Professional
Anna Marie Barksdale, a counselor at the Barbara Wick Transitional House, for her work in guiding and counseling battered women.
Individual Youth
Youth for Justice members at the United Methodist Community Center. The group learns about and educates others on ways to resolve problems without violence. Millicent Counts is executive director; Michael Stapleton is director.
Group Professionals
Sojourner House, for its work helping battered women and their children. Malinda Gavins is director.
Group Volunteer
Seventh Ward Citizens' Coalition, for its work keeping several neighborhood block watches among the city's most active. Wallace Dunne is president.
