HILLSVILLE, Pa. -- Mahoning Township residents will soon be receiving the street numbers assigned to them under the county's enhanced 911 system.
Mahoning Township Supervisor Poncho Exposito said Tuesday that the county will send letters to all township residents Thursday informing them what their street addresses are.
Township residents have never had street addresses although some have rural delivery route box numbers. Exposito said he expects the postal box numbers to be dropped eventually.
He said the letter will also include a number to call with complaints about the new addresses.
The township will also be sending a newsletter, explaining how the house numbers must be displayed under township ordinance and outlining installation help which will be available for senior citizens.
Exposito said that residents have 60 days to get their home address changed on their driver's license. The driver's license center will make the change free except for commercial licenses, which will cost $5, he said.
Zoning map changes
In other business, planning commission member Dennis Bensinger reported that the revised zoning ordinance and zoning map changes will be discussed when the planning commission meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 22.
Supervisor Gary Pezzuolo reported that the Lawrence County Council of Governments will soon hire a building inspector who would be shared by 11 municipalities, including Mahoning. He said the township would have to pay the inspector for each building inspection or whenever there is a grass cutting or junk car complaint.
