WEATHERSFIELD -- Two teen brothers are charged with filing a false report after police said they made up a story of an attempted abduction.
Their 10-year-old brother was not charged, as police believe he was coerced into going along with his siblings, 13 and 15.
Joseph P. Consiglio, Weathersfield Township police chief, said the boys were charged last week after they were interviewed and admitted they made up the story.
The boys contended they were walking to school Sept. 26 when a man in a blue Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra pulled up to them at Union and Depot streets and tried to pull the youngest boy into the car.
In their report, the boys said the man was black, about 6 feet tall and weighed 250 to 300 pounds.
The boys told police the 13-year-old punched the man in the face, and they all fled to a nearby warehouse and hid until the man left.
During the re-enactment, police discovered the building the boys claimed to hide in was locked.
The boys were released into the custody of their parents after being charged. They will face a hearing in juvenile court in Warren, Consiglio said.
