INTERFAITH
Temple rededication
Representatives of area faiths will take part in the rededication of Ohev-Tzedek-Shaarei Torah Congregation's temple. A reading will reflect the union of the building and its beliefs.
The Rev. Robert Shonholz, pastor of St. Mark Lutheran Church, will bring greetings on behalf of the Boardman Ministerium.
Participating in a reading will be: Elsie Dursi, director of the Mahoning Valley Association of Churches; Monsignor Robert Siffrin, vicar general of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown; the Rev. Kenneth Simon, pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Youngstown; and Dr. Mustansir Mir, professor of Islamic Studies at Youngstown State University.
The reading is:
May the door of this synagogue be wide enoughto receive all who hunger for love, all who are lonely for fellowship.May it welcome all who have cares to unburden, thanks to express, hopes to nurture.May the door of this synagogue be narrow enoughto shut out pettiness and pride, envy and enmity.May its threshold be no stumbling blockto young or straying feet.May it be too high to admit complacency, selfishness, and harshness.May this synagogue be, for all who enter, the doorway to a richer and more meaningful life.Amen
