PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- Ian Smart ran for another four touchdowns Saturday to set the NCAA all-division career record with 94 as C.W. Post defeated Pace 35-16.
Smart, who gained 176 yards on 23 carries for the Division II Pioneers, bettered the previous record of 92 touchdowns, set by R.J. Bowers of Division III Grove City (Penn.) from 1997-2000.
Smart has 6,508 yards rushing, fourth-best all-time in Division II and ninth-best in all NCAA competition. With a 40-yard run in the third quarter, he also broke the all-division scoring record with 564 points, two more than Bowers.
The Pioneers (11-0, 10-0 Northeast 10 Conference) actually trailed 3-0 when Rob Nilson connected on a 22-yard field goal at 12:59 of the 1st quarter for the Setters (3-7, 3-7).
Smart then scored three straight touchdowns, all in the first quarter. His final TD came with 8:36 remaining in the third quarter.
