There will be no open public tours of the Shenango Dam on Shenango River Lake in Mercer County this summer. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said that the program has been canceled because of increased security measures at federal facilities.
However, tours for small groups may still be arranged.

Birthday celebration
Ferdinand A. Dalo Jr., longtime Sharon Realtor known as a walking, talking history of Sharon and much of the Shenango Valley, celebrates his 95th birthday today.
Dalo closed his Vine Avenue office and officially retired just four years ago and lives at Nugent's, a convalescent home in Hermitage.
Dalo was the first subject interviewed by the Mercer County Oral History Project in 1995 and Joe Shafran, founder of the project, said Dalo was interviewed again this week in honor of his 95th birthday. This week's interview dealt primarily with the old theaters that once dotted Sharon.
Fish for free
Pennsylvania will have "Fish for Free" day and free loans of rods, reels and fishing tackle, according to State Rep. Frank LaGrotta of Ellwood City, D-10th. The Fish for Free day will be June 1 and there will fishing clinics held throughout the state.
Normally people ages 16 to 64 must pay $17 for a yearly fishing license. Senior citizens can get one for $4. Anyone who wants to fish for trout or salmon must buy an additional license for $5.50.
Anyone wanting to borrow rods, reels and a tackle box full of hooks and other items can go to the Butler County Parks and Recreation in Alameda Park in Butler, LaGrotta said.
