Chief resident
Dr. Lisa L. Stephens, a 2000 graduate of NEOUCOM, was recently appointed chief resident of the Grant Medical Center's family residency program in Columbus
Dr. Stephens is a 1994 graduate of Canfield High School and received a bachelor's degree in combined science from Youngstown State University in 1996, graduating with highest honors.
She began her residency training at Grant in 2000, which she will complete in June 2003. She is the daughter of Robert and Margaret Stephens of Canfield.
New role at OSU
Dr. Chadwick D. Miller, a 2000 graduate of Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, Rootstown, was recently appointed chief resident of Ohio State University Medical Center's emergency medicine residency program.
Dr. Miller graduated in 1994 from Southeast High School and received a bachelor's degree in combined science from Youngstown State University in 1996, graduating with highest honors.
He began his residency training at the medical center in 2000, which he will complete in June 2003. He is the son of Nick and Nancy Miller of Edinburg, Pa.
HONORS
Appointed to board
Sally Gadola of Oak Ridge, Tenn., formerly of Sharpsville, has received a two-year appointment to the Presidential Advisory Board on Radiation and Worker's Health. The appointment was made by President George W. Bush.
The board will advise the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services about activities under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act.
Gadola is a graduate of the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing in Buffalo and has a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in health education from Pennsylvania State University.
She is a former head nurse at Roswell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo and became a board-certified occupational health specialist in 1994. She is an occupational health nurse with Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
Communicator award
Anthony Snyder, formerly of Leetonia, vice president of the Naperville, Ill.-based Join Hands Day, has received the Communicator Award of Distinction for JHD's 2001 promotional materials.
Snyder, a 1988 graduate of Leetonia High school and a 1992 graduate of Bowling Green State University, is responsible for the development of all JHD promotional materials, which included a poster, brochure, news letter, media kit and Web site.
Join Hands Day was held for the second time June 16, 2001, and united more than 107,000 volunteers in 4,000 service projects across the country. This year's event is set for June 15.
Snyder is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Snyder of Walnut Street, Leetonia, and he is a former staff writer for the Lisbon Morning Journal. Snyder and his wife, Sara, have two children.
