Senior Bill Corbett needed only 51 pitches for his first career gem in a 10-0 win over Southern Local.
SALINEVILLE -- Jackson-Milton High senior Bill Corbett threw his first career perfect game Friday, as the Bluejays blanked Southern Local, 10-0, in a Division IV sectional semifinal baseball game.
Corbett finished with five strikeouts and threw just 51 pitches.
Vince MacClarren had two hits, including a triple for Jackson-Milton (10-10). Keith McVey and Lou Infante each added two RBIs.
Jackson-Milton will play host to Columbiana in a sectional final on Tuesday.
Brookfield 14, Liberty 7: BROOKFIELD -- Seniors Scott Stofan, Brad Stone, Drew Fisher and Adam Daugherty had home runs for Brookfield (6-9, 5-7) in the TAC regular-season game.
Liberty led, 5-3, until the Warriors piled in 10 runs in the third and fourth innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, Brookfield used seven batters before the Leopards got a putout.
Stone had a three-run homer, Stofan had a two-run blast and Fisher and Daugherty hit solo home runs.
Of Brookfield's 12 hits, Jeff Nasci, Ryan Brant and Fisher and Stone had three apiece. Daugherty also doubled for the winners.
For Liberty, Joe Lopez had a two-run home run while Tom Blackiston added a solo blast. Both Joe Lopez and Rick Lopez finished with three hits apiece.
Canfield 11, Salem 1: CANFIELD -- Nick Guerrieri had two hits, scored three runs and drove in three for Canfield.
Dave Miller also had two hits for the Cards (18-6, 9-1 Metro Athletic Conference).
Ken Buckley had two hits for Salem (3-20, 0-9).
South Range 6, Springfield 3: NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Greg Rohan, Robert Bates and Brad Johnson each had two hits as Inter-County League champion South Range (21-4, 13-1) wrapped up league play.
Dave Billock and Chase Dobson each had two hits for Springfield (3-14).
Mineral Ridge 21, Lowellville 13: STRUTHERS -- This ICL game produced 34 runs, 27 hits, 20 errors, eight walks and two hit batsmen.
The Rams (11-12, 8-5) took advantage of 15 Lowellville errors and six walks and it built a 14-0 lead scoring eight runs in the third inning.
Brad Ward triggered the Rams' attack with three singles.
Lowellville (2-17) was paced by Dustin Socie, who hit a double and two singles and Nick Pope, who hit three singles.
Youngstown Christian 4, Canton Heritage 3: CANTON -- Youngstown Christian (9-4) scored the deciding run in the top of the seventh inning in the Association of Christian Schools International district tournament.
Winning pitcher Justin Sargent hit a double and two singles, drove in a run and scored once to spark the Eagles.
The Eagles advanced to the ACSI state tournament will go against Columbus Gehenna Christian in a semifinal game Monday at 9 a.m. at Thurman Munson Stadium.
