Armed Forces Week events include ceremony, luncheon

YOUNGSTOWN -- The 910th Airlift Wing is sponsoring two events during Armed Forces Week, May 12-18.
The first is a ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at Youngstown State University's Veterans Memorial Plaza just outside Beeghly Center.
Lt. Col. Julio B. Villalba of the Marine Corps Reserve, peacetime-wartime support officer at the Marine Reserve Center of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna, is the main speaker.
Lt. Cmdr. Roland Rosales, commanding officer of the Naval Reserve Center at the Air Reserve Station, and J.P. Brown III, commander of the AMVETS Department of Ohio and local veterans advocate, will participate in the program.
On Thursday, the Youngstown Air Reserve Station Community Council will conduct the 51st annual Armed Forces Recognition Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at ITAM Post 3, 115 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Several members of local Guard and Reserve units, as well as ROTC and Civil Air Patrol cadets, will be recognized.
The main speaker at the luncheon is Brigadier Gen. Ronald G. Young of the Army National Guard, assistant adjutant general of the Ohio National Guard. Tickets for the luncheon are $11. Call (330) 609-1236 Tuesday for reservations.
