PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP Wilson outlasts Rayen for 16-10 City victory



Poland blanked Ursuline 7-0 for its 12th win of the season.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Juawan Gray and Donald Durkin each hit safely four times and Travis Butterfield had a three-hit game as Woodrow Wilson High defeated Rayen School 16-10 in a City Series baseball game Monday.
Gray doubled twice while Matt McBride and Brandon Gomez each had a two-base hit for the Redmen (2-11, 2-3 City Series).
Eddie Williams paced the Tigers (2-10, 2-4) with a single and a double.
Poland 7, Ursuline 0: POLAND -- David Yost and Cole Budinsky combined on a three-hit shutout for Poland (12-4).
John Habuda had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Dave Koval added two hits, including a triple, three runs and an RBI and Brandon Hardin added two hits. For Ursuline, Brett Neely had two hits.
Campbell 5, Salem 3: SALEM -- Anthony Cembillas went 3-for-4, Aaron Dobich singled twice while Mark Such drove in three runs for the Red Devils (10-5) who broke a three-game losing streak.
The Quakers are 3-17.
Niles 4, Howland 2: HOWLAND -- Vince Gatta went 3-for-4 while Steve Nientkiewicz, Matt Baritell, Lou Viglio and Tory Ramer each had two hits for Niles (10-7, 6-4 Metro Athletic Conference).
McDonald 6, South Range 5: MCDONALD -- Josh Van Dyke scored an insurance run in the sixth inning for McDonald (7-10, 5-7 Inter-County League), which turned out to be the game-winner.
Mark Brown added two hits for McDonald, which benefited from five South Range errors.
Jason King had two hits and three RBis and Greg Rohan and Jeff Johnston each added two hits for the Raiders (11-1 ICL).
Western Reserve 21, Lowellville 10: STRUTHERS -- Kyle Kekic had two triples, two doubles, four RBIs and scored three runs for Western Reserve (16-6, 11-3 ICL).
Luke Srock had two hits and three RBIs, Jason Young had two hits and two RBIs and Ben Martin scored four runs for the Blue Devils.
Don Packner had three hits for Lowellville.
West Branch 5, Minerva 4: MINERVA -- Jim Christy had two RBIs and Matt Martig added two hits and scored a run for West Branch (17-5, 7-4 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
Youngstown Christian 8, Jefferson County Christian 4: Justin Sergeant had two hits and Matt Byrdy added a triple for Youngstown Christian (8-4).
