HONORS
Person of the Year
Coast Guard Petty Officer (Food Specialist 1) Traci Addicott Willoughby, assigned to the USCG Sherman, a 378-foot cutter homeported in Alameda, Calif., was named Pacific Area Active Duty Enlisted Person of the Year.
Willoughby, a daughter of David and Sylvia Addicott, of Masury, was recognized for her skill in supervising the ship's galley during a six-month deployment, leading to the Sherman's galley being named Galley of the Year Coast Guard-wide in 2001.
She also has been nominated as Coast Guard Enlisted Person of the Year.
She graduated in 1990 from Brookfield High School and attended Youngstown State University for a year before enlisting in the Coast Guard in 1992.
VETERANS
Health evaluations
WAMPUM, Pa. -- The Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center's mobile outreach team offers health-care evaluations and blood work to veterans from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at American Legion Post 749.

BASIC GRADS
Several area residents have completed basic military training. They include:
UAir Force: Airman Andrew R. Angleton (Lincoln High School, Ellwood City, Pa., '99), son of Lana Fabian, Rural Route 1, Wampum, Pa., and Ken Angleton, New Galilee, Pa.; Air Reserve Airman 1st Class Steven L. Satterfield (Beaver Local High School, Lisbon, '87). His wife, Karen, lives in Lisbon; National Guard Airman 1st Class Brandon M. Murphy (Greenville, Pa., High School, '01), son of Gary Murphy, Greenville, Pa.
UArmy: Pvt. Michael N. Miller (East Liverpool High School, '00), son of Amanda Linkous, East Liverpool; Pvt. Brian M. Lynk (New Castle, Pa., High School, '97), son of Donna Newson, New Wilmington, Pa. His wife, Stephanie, also lives in New Wilmington; Pvt. JonL. Wills (Newark, Ohio, High School, '96), son of Chris Wills, East Liverpool. His wife, Lisa, lives in Zanesville.
ADVANCED TRAINING
An area resident has completed advanced military training:
UAir Force Airman Anthony T. Luciani graduated from the aerospace propulsion apprentice (turboprop) course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. Luciani is the son of Karen A. Ondo, Greenville, Pa., and Tom J. Luciani, Transfer, Pa., and is a 2001 graduate of Reynolds Junior-Senior High School, Transfer.
PROMOTIONS
UArmy Specialist Todd E. Reed was promoted to his current rank while working as an administrative clerk assigned to the 13th Corps Support Command, Fort Hood, Texas. He is the son of Ken Reed, New Castle.
UArmy Sgt. 1st Class Stanley Grosso was promoted to his current rank while serving as the noncommissioned officer in charge of the 92Y supply unit, HSC 84th Combat Engineers Battalion, at Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
Grosso, a son of James J. and Linda Grosso Sr., of Youngstown, is a 1982 graduate of Youngstown Woodrow Wilson High School. He and his wife, the former Melanie L. Kisak, a daughter of Michael J. Kisak Sr., of Youngstown, have two daughters, Robin and Kristen.
UAir Force Master Sgt. John (Jack) Cunningham II was promoted to his current rank while working as an Air Force career counselor assigned to the 311th Recruiting Squadron at the Federal Building in Pittsburgh.
Cunningham, a 1980 graduate of Youngstown Ursuline High School, lives in Boardman with his wife, the former DeeAnn Painter, and children, Ray, Meagan and Jaclyn. He is a son of Jack and Bernice Cunningham of Liberty.
REUNIONS
YOUNGSTOWN -- Members of the National Guard air defense battalions, the 177th gun battalion and 137th automatic weapons battalion, are planning a reunion in 2003 in the area.
Members of batteries located in Youngstown, Warren, Kent, Alliance, Canton and Steubenville from 1950 to 1968, as well as a unit from Cleveland, are invited to attend.
