Grove City parents weekend will feature many events

A Sharon student has been elected junior spring queen this year.
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Events at parents weekend at Grove City College will get off to an early start this year.
Campus visitors can get a preview of the 2002 Dance Pageant, featuring eight student dance troupes, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the college Arena.
The Tau Alpha Pi One-Acts, short plays written and performed by students, will be presented at 8 p.m. Thursday in the Little Theater of the Pew Fine Arts Center.
Official beginning
Weekend activities officially begin Friday with the unveiling of a student art exhibit at 6 p.m. in the Pew Gallery.
The Tau Alpha Pi One-Acts will take the stage again at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theater, and the symphony band will perform at 8 p.m. in Ketler Auditorium.
Registration is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, and parents can attend a variety of events during the day.
A highlight will be the introduction of the spring court at 2:30 p.m. on the campus quad, followed by the coronation and dance pageant in the Physical Learning Center Arena at 3 p.m.
A Mercer County student, Terra Whalen, has been elected junior spring queen.
She is the daughter of Terry and Cheryl Whalen of Sharon and is an elementary/early childhood education major. She is involved with Kiddy New Life at George Junior Republic, an education and detention center for juveniles, as well as with Inner City Outreach Missions.
She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi education honorary and is chaplain of the Gamma Chi sorority.
The weekend ends with a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Harbison Chapel.
