MEADVILLE, PA. Trip to explore French Creek and Allegheny River by canoe

Participants will spend five days on the canoe trip.
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- The French Creek Project and the Alleghenies Watershed Network are looking for people interested in taking a canoe trip along French Creek and the Allegheny River.
The Friends of French Creek and Allegheny River Sojourn 2002 begins June 6 in Meadville on French Creek and ends June 10 in Emlenton on the Allegheny River.
The first three days will be spent exploring French Creek, Pennsylvania's most biologically diverse stream, and the last two days will be spent paddling along 40 miles of the Allegheny.
Each day will include presentations and discussions about fish, mussels, geology and human history along the waterways.
Participants can join the float for a day, several days or the entire five days.
Several packages are available starting at $50 per day for a single boater and $125 a day for a family of four.
What's included: The price includes a canoe and shuttle service as well as breakfast, a box lunch, dinner and a snack each day.
Campsites are available for those who would like to camp but participants must bring their own gear.

The French Creek Project is a nonprofit entity dedicated to protecting the creek. It is based in Meadville and is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, The Nature Conservancy and Allegheny College.
