Old-timers to inductnew HOF members
CAMPBELL -- The Baseball Old-Timers Association will induct eight members into its Hall of Fame at the May 5 banquet at St. Michael's Hall.
Inductees include Bill Bodnar, Andrew Lubanovic, Joseph Minnow, John Opincarne, Walter Pishkur, Ray Raub, Ernie Ruby and David Smercansky. Gus Hlebovy will be "King of the Realm."

Curbstoners takeholiday off
BOARDMAN -- The Curbstone Coaches Association will not meet on Monday due to the Easter holiday.
The longtime local sports organization that supports community endeavors will resume its weekly luncheons the following Monday at the Lockwood House.
LPGA tickets
VIENNA -- Good-Any-One Day tickets for the 2002 Giant Eagle LPGA Classic will be available for $10 beginning Monday at participating Cellular One and Golf Headquarters locations.
Tickets will be available at participating Giant Eagle stores beginning April 14.
Advanced tickets are available at Cellular One locations on 1393 Boardman-Canfield Road, Southern Park Mall, 6285 Youngstown-Warren Road in Niles, 2205 Elm Road in Warren and 2085 E. State St. in Hermitage, Pa.
The Golf Headquarters locations include 1330 Youngstown-Warren Road in Niles and 1401 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Ticket prices at the gates will be $12 on Monday-Thursday and $14 Friday-Sunday.

Last for Lopez
VIENNA -- Former Giant Eagle LPGA Classic champion Nancy Lopez (1993) announced last week that 2002 will be her final full season on the LPGA Tour.
The Hall of Fame golfer named the remainder of the year the "Nancy Lopez Farewell Tour" with the intent of seeing her favorite people at Tour stops throughout the year.
The Giant Eagle LPGA Classic announced this week that it is one of 13 events Lopez presently plans to participate in this season.
Lopez, by far the fan favorite in the Youngstown-Warren area, has been a fixture in the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic field almost every year.
This year's event will be held July 15-21 at Squaw Creek Country Club.
Valley Sportsoffers classes
STRUTHERS -- Speed Training, Jump Stretch, Power Training and Bosu classes will begin at Valley Sports on April 8 at 6 p.m.
The two-hour classes geared for athletes of all ages will go three nights a week and can be paid for monthly.

Trumbull wins inFriday Hoyle event
SHARON, Pa. -- Courtney Mazey had 19 points to lead four scorers in double figures as Trumbull County defeated Mercer County II 97-70 in the Hoyle Tournament on Friday night at Sharon High.
Supporting Mazey were Ethan Banks with 17 points, Malachi Hall with 16 and Shelby Chaney with 15.
Mercer County II got 10 points each from Chez Phillips, Brian Dungee and Dan Harris.
Mahoning County didn't fare as well as the Trumbull team. Ryan Evamochko poured in 24 points to lead Allegheny County past Mahoning, 74-61. Dale Meinbresse added 15 points for Allegheny.
John Brown led Mahoning County with 24 points, while Cris Fiore added 11 points and Robert Armstrong 10.
Myron Lowe's 22 points directed Mercer County I over Lawrence County 80-76. Mercer also got 11 points from Julian Betko and 10 from Josh Sidlinger.
Lawrence County was paced by Mark DeMonaco and Dom Joseph with 17 points each. Shane McCullough added 12 points and Brian Fadden 10.
Ursuline's Manningheaded to Mount
ALLIANCE -- Thomas Manning, a senior at Ursuline High, will continue his football career at Mount Union College this fall.
A 6-0, 260-pound center, Manning earned three varsity letters at Ursuline, becoming the school's first ever two-year captain.
He was a two-time All Steel Valley Conference first team selection and gained first-team honors for all state and all northeast Ohio, and is selected to participate in the North-South All-Star Football Classic.
Penn. playersBorn 2 Run
PITTSBURGH -- Six area Pennsylvania high school basketball players will participate in the Born 2 Run All-Star Game on April 7 at LaRoche College.
The players are Dan McElhinny and Nolan Reimold of Kennedy Catholic; Mike Schneider, Corey Cheza and Julian Betko of Sharon; and Brian Fadden of Mohawk.
Games begin at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Mountaineer setsApril 13 boxing card
CHESTER, W.Va. -- Heavyweight David Izon (27-4, 23 knockouts) of Pensacola, Fla., and Lance Whitaker (24-2, 20 KOs) of Van Nuys, Calif., will co-feature an April 13 fight card that's being described as "Heavyweight Mayhem at Mountaineer" Race Track.
They are the latest addition to the Oquendo-Tua NABF heavyweight championship Showtime fight at Mountaineer.
Whitaker is rated No. 8 by the WBO.
Also on the card will be Roland Cummings (22-20, 14 KOs) of Youngstown taking on George Klinesmith (11-5-1) in a six-round super middleweight bout.
Warren's Etianne Whitaker (23-5-2, 13 KOs) is set to meet Dale Robinson (14-2, 10 KOs) of St. Petersburg, Fla., in a six-round light heavyweight fight.

Hubbard's Hilsonsigns at Malone
HUBBARD -- Hubbard High School's Lidel Hilson has signed a national letter of intent to continue his football career at Malone College in Canton.
A 6-foot, 2-inch, 225-pound defensive end for the Eagles, Hilson, a two-year starter, helped Hubbard make the state playoffs last fall.
He was an all TAC and Trumbull All County selection the past two years and a 2001 special mention all state.

Broadcaster dies
LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- John Antus, host of the radio show "10th Inning" that followed Cleveland Indians games, has died. He was 49.
Antus died Friday at Lakewood Hospital after suffering what appeared to be a heart attack. Autopsy results were pending.
