Williams seeks to debate opponent Halleck

WASHINGTON -- Former congressman Lyle Williams wants to debate his opponent.
Williams is seeking the GOP nomination for Ohio's 6th Congressional District and will run against Mike Halleck, an employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation, in the May primary election.
"I think a debate is the best way to put candidates side-by-side so voters can judge who is best for the post. Let's allow the electorate to hear what we have to say," Williams said.
"I, for one, would like to learn what he knows about federal operations and where he stands on the major issues facing America."
Halleck could not be reached to comment.
Williams said he is willing to discuss with Halleck where and when to debate and who should moderate.
Topics: Possible debate topics Williams suggested are:
USaving Social Security.
UThe federal budgeting process.
UHealth care for elderly Americans.
UHow state employees can run for political offices and keep their jobs.
UThe future of surface mining.
Williams is seeking his fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
