MERCER Accord will help children and families



The county has selected a new director of information management services.
MERCER, Pa. -- County commissioners have entered into a service provider agreement with the Sharon Area School District to provide several services designed to stabilize families and prevent child abuse and neglect.
The services include adult education and in-home services for drug-exposed newborns. A state grant will cover $94,492 of the cost; the county is required to pay $6,000.
Personnel issues: In other business, commissioners handled several personnel matters and appointed county residents to commissions and boards.
Commissioners named Keith Jenkins as director of information management services to replace an employee who resigned. Jenkins will be paid $46,381 annually.
Thomas Meyer was named afternoon shift supervisor at the Emergency 911 Center at $26,009 annually. Pam Moseley was hired as senior procedure clerk in District Justice Ruth French's office at $10.23 per hour, and Michael Peters was hired as a part-time correctional officer at $9.69 per hour.
Julie Widel of Sandy Lake and Michelle Brooks of Jamestown were named to and James Hogan of Mercer reappointed to the Mercer County Regional Planning Commission for terms to run until Dec. 31, 2004. Regina Ehrhart of Hermitage was named to fill an unexpired term, which will run until the end of this year.
Commissioners also opened four bids for medical supplies to equip a mass casualty trailer. Bids ranged from a high of $53,924 to a low of $27,883. The bids were tabled for study.
