CANFIELD -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol will conduct the annual church bus and privately owned ambulance inspections beginning April 2 at Canfield Fairgrounds. Inspections will be for church buses and ambulances in Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties. Call the Canfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol at (330) 533-6866 for an appointment.
Anti-smoking campaign
YOUNGSTOWN -- YWCA of Youngstown's School Age Child Care Program will participate in a nationwide anti-smoking campaign Wednesday.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids: Kick Butts Day informs children of the health risks associated with tobacco use. The event will run from 10 a.m. to noon on the third floor of the YWCA, 25 W. Rayen Ave. It will include poster making and an ugly face contest, which will feature children making their best ugly faces to describe a tobacco-damaged lung.
The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids was launched in 1995. It receives funding from the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and several charitable foundations.
