Sentenced to 26 years for child sex
LISBON -- A Wellsville man will spend the next 26 years in prison for committing 53 sex-related offenses involving juveniles.
Robert Gregg Jr., 47, of Broadway, was sentenced Wednesday by Judge David Tobin of Columbiana County Common Pleas Court. Gregg pleaded guilty in January to the crimes.
He was charged with 42 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor, nine counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and two counts of rape.
He faced a maximum prison sentence of more than 275 years.
Prosecutors recommended 30 years as part of the plea agreement. The judge decided a 26-year sentence best fit the crimes.
Families of the victims were satisfied with the sentence, said Tim McNicol, an assistant county prosecutor.
Authorities say Gregg had pornographic photographs of a girl he knew. He also had raped her in 1997 and again in June 2001, when she was 13.
He also had pornographic photographs of two other girls younger than 13, both of whom he knew. In addition, Gregg was in possession of child pornography downloaded from the Internet.
