NEW CASTLE Trial date expected to be set in burglaries at residences

Another preliminary hearing is planned for April 5 on other burglary charges.
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A man who police say made himself at home in a city residence before running off with jewelry, cash and other items has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Charges against Marshall Reitnauer, 32, of Highland Avenue, will now go to Lawrence County Common Pleas Court. A trial date has not been set.
He faces four counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of criminal mischief and one count each of burglary, criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia in burglaries at residences on Pin Oak Drive and East Englewood Avenue.
Additional charges of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief were filed Wednesday in a separate burglary on East Englewood Avenue. A preliminary hearing is set on those charges for April 5 before District Justice Melissa Amodie.
Police arrested Reitnauer on March 16. They said he was spotted by police driving a 2002 Nissan Altima taken from one of the homes that was burglarized earlier that day.
What happened: Police said Reitnauer told them he broke into a house on East Englewood Avenue, but was chased off by the homeowner. He ran to a neighbor's home to hide from police, authorities said.
While in the second home, police said, Reitnauer watched ESPN, fed treats to the owner's dog, drank beer and prepared a frozen pizza.
Police said they later found Reitnauer driving the homeowner's Nissan Altima, and stolen items from the homes were in the car.
