Penguins postponeNiagara game
NILES -- Youngstown State's baseball game against Niagara at Cafaro Field on Wednesday has been postponed because of snow. The contest may be made up at a later date, head coach Mike Florak said.
The Penguins' next scheduled games are at Ohio University on Wednesday and at Toledo on Thursday.

Canton McKinley votes to join Federal
CANTON -- The Canton McKinley board of education voted unanimously Monday to join the Federal League beginning in fall 2003.
McKinley will begin league play in all sports in 2004-2005.
The Canton-based League will expand from seven teams to eight when Fitch and Boardman join in 2003. Wooster and Alliance will leave the league that year.

BOARDMAN -- The Mahoning Valley Coaches Association all-star basketball games will be contested Wednesday at Boardman High School.
The girls will play at 6 p.m. and the boys game is set for 8 p.m.
Warren nativehired at Akron
AKRON -- Joe Tresey, a native of Warren, has been named defensive coordinator and assistant defensive backs coach for the University of Akron football team under coach Lee Owens.
Tresey, a graduate of Warren JFK High and a football player there, comes to Akron from Virginia Military Institute where he has been defensive backs coach for the past three seasons.
Before VMI, Tresey served as defensive coordinator at Otterbein College for four seasons (1995-98). His defenses at Otterbein were nationally recognized for creating turnovers.
A 1982 graduate of Ohio State, Tresey also coached at four high schools -- Middletown (1991-94), New Philadelphia (1990-91), Fredericktown (1987-90) and Mechanicsburg (1985-86).
At Fredericktown in 1989, he was named United Press International Ohio High School Coach of the Year. His team won 12 games and gained a berth in the OHSAA state semifinals.
Tresey, wife Patty and son Patrick (14) expect to reside in North Canton. His wife is a high school administrator.
Schubert honored
BETHANY, W.Va. -- Keith Schubert, Bethany College's senior basketball star from Girard High, has been named to the D3Hoops.com All-American team as an honorable mention, and the All-Great Lakes Region and Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region First Teams.
The 6-4 forward, previously named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season, averaged team-bests of 26.2 points and 6.9 rebounds. His 26.2-point average led the PAC and ranked No. 3 in the nation in NCAA Div. III.
Schubert also established two school records -- career points (2,127) and single-season points (757, this season) -- leading Bethany to a school-record 21 wins (21-8), and to its second straight PAC title and first NCAA Division III Tournament berth since 1982.
In the NCAA meet, he averaged 39 points for two games, pouring in 37 in Bethany's 110-98 win over Pitt-Bradford, and then 41 in a loss to eventual-champion Otterbein.
Schubert's 6.9 rebounding average ranked No. 4 in the PAC, while he was No. 3 in free throw percentage (81.8), No. 5 in 3-pointers per game (1.9) and sixth in 3-point-goal percentage (36.9).

Duquesne footballplayer is arrested
PITTSBURGH -- A Duquesne University football player, a former player and one other man were arrested and charged with kidnapping two friends and beating them while interrogating them about a stolen safe.
One of the alleged victims, 19-year-old Andrew Jones, was still missing Monday. Police said they had received tips that he was in hiding, but feared he might be dead.
Craig Elias, a former defensive tackle at Duquesne; Jared Lischner, a sophomore defensive end, and Jared Henkel were charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and robbery.
Police said Jones and Anthony Brownlee were lured Friday to an empty apartment in the city's Mount Washington section after being told that Henkel had been robbed.
The two were held hostage, beaten and questioned for several hours, police said.
