Antiquarian Book Fair
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- The Akron Antiquarian Book Fair will be held Friday and Saturday at Emidio & amp; Sons Exposition Center, 48 E. Bath Road at the State Road intersection in Cuyahoga Falls. The non-profit organization N.O.B.S. (Northern Ohio Bibliophilic Society, Inc.) again presents this festival for book lovers. A book binder will also be on hand throughout the show to give advice.
Admission is $3 each day, and the Book Fair hours will be from 3 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Science fiction writer
CLEVELAND -- Octavia Butler will appear at a weeklong seminar called "Envisioning The Future: Utopia, Dystopia and Beyond" at Cleveland State University. She will speak April 11 at 7 p.m. at Cleveland State's Mather Mansion, 2605 Euclid Ave. There is no charge for the talk.
The event also features book discussions, multimedia events, films and other events leading up to Butler's appearance.
Butler's writing has garnered top science fiction honors, including several Hugo and Nebula Awards given by fellow science fiction writers. Since 1976 she has published 11 novels.
Reception in Hudson
HUDSON -- Hudson Library will host a wine and cheese reception and the debut reading of "I Have My Own Song for It: Modern Poems of Ohio," soon to be released by the University of Akron Press. The event will be April 23 at 7 p.m. at Old Church on the Green, 1 E. Main Street.
Several of the poets will be on hand to read their contributions to the anthology.
