Impact of trash is focusof youth art contest
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The Lawrence County Chapter of PA Clean Ways is sponsoring an art contest for area youths ages 8 to 18.
The contest will focus on the potential effects of illegal trash dumping on local sources of drinking water.
To be eligible, youths must first view an eight-minute video on illegal dumping; the artwork must interpret what they learned from the video. Judges will select an overall winner, who will receive a $100 savings bond, and winners by age in four categories, who each will receive a $50 savings bond.
The overall winner's artwork will go on a restaurant place mat along with information about illegal trash dumping in waterways. Clean Ways Chapter members will give presentations of the video through April. Anyone knowing youths who want to participate should call Marjorie Snider at (724) 654-6119 for details.
